Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has been ordered to pay Barcelona €6.7 million after his case against the Catalan club was dismissed on Friday.
The Brazilian filed a lawsuit against Barca for €43.6m in alleged unpaid bonuses he believed he was entitled to receive, despite the controversial nature of his move to PSG in 2017.
But the verdict has gone against the 28-year-old, who has remained a transfer target for the Blaugrana amid the legal wrangling.
“FC Barcelona expresses its satisfaction with the verdict announced today by Social Court 15 in Barcelona in relation to the lawsuit involving FC Barcelona and the player Neymar Jr regarding the amount of the signing bonus in the final renewal of the player’s contract,” the club said in a statement.
Barcelona have been trying to re-sign the Brazilian superstar since last season and are expected to make another effort this season. It is left to be seen if after this judgement any deal can still go through for Barcelona.
Neymar has also been reported several times in the media to favour a move back to the Nou Camp, but PSG asking price has been torted has the stumbling block. The Paris club wants €164 million for the attacker.
