  • Gattuso dedicate Napoli win to his late sister
  • He pays tribute to Napoli players

The Napoli boss’ family were struck by tragedy after her passing – but the Serie A giants rallied to defeat Antonio Conte’s men and seal a spot in the final against Juventus on Wednesday.

Dries Mertens became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer after cancelling out Christian Eriksen’s bizarre opener, and Gattuso also paid tribute to his players after Napoli progressed 2-1 on aggregate.

Italian daily La Repubblica reported then that Francesca underwent surgery and was taken in the intensive care unit but suddenly she got worse on the following Tuesday.
She was hospitalized after getting ill in February.

Francesca worked with AC Milan before her death and according to a statement released by Milan to confirm her death, “Francesca Gattuso faced her illness with the same strength and energy she brought to Milanello [AC Milan training facility] and AC Milan every day. Rino [Gennaro], the immense pain you and your family are feeling is also ours. Rest in peace, dear Francesca,”

The Former AC Milan coach, Gennaro Gattuso has dedicated Napoli’s Coppa Italia semi-final triumph over Inter Milan to his late sister Francesca, who tragically died earlier this month at the age of 37.
